Friday night movie night.

pretzels, chocolate eggs, marshmallows, and yogurt covered raisins

This upcoming week is spring break. Yahoo!

We leave mid-week after Roman and Addy go to the cardiologist. No worries, just normal routine visit. They go every six months. Unfortunately, I don't think Addy's hole in her heart has closed up, but as long as it hasn't gotten bigger it shouldn't be a problem even if it never closes up.

I made some Bunny Bait and some jelly bean chocolate bark to go with our movie night. The kids thought it was the treats were cool.

Oh, I saw Hunger games on Tuesday. I loved it! It was the first time I wasn't disappointed with the movie adaptation of the book. The only thing I thought was wrong was I felt the ending was a little rushed. I can't wait for the next one to come out!

Speaking of excited, I am so excited to have my hair straightened tomorrow. Yeah! No more dealing with this mess every day; especially, with the humidity my hair has been super curly. Hope you Had a great Friday!

Georgia in the Spring Time

You know how there is a song about Paris in the spring time, well I think there should be a song about Georgia in the spring time.  Today the weather was so warm that we pulled out the slip and slide and spent the afternoon outside.  I love this state!  I love being outside with my children.  Afterwards, Roman made a new friend with the neighbor boy and went over to his house to play.  Only 1 more day to the beginning of spring break.  You know what that means?  We can sleep in and don't have to get up at 6:15 a.m. which just about kills all of us.  Yahoo!  It also means I can just have fun with the children and don't have to spend my afternoons nagging them about homework.

New Day

What a difference a day makes.  Addy is doing so much better.  Big brother caught her stomach bug, but not as bad as she did.

I am thinking of buying some cobalt blue skinny jeans.  What do you think?  Can a woman of 40 wear a pop of color our is this fashion for only the 20 and 30 year olds out there????

I spent two hours at the gym today.  It felt good.

I am so happy we moved last year.  Now I can finally see the sunset from where I live.

I booked my tickets for the London Eye.  I am so excited.  I know it is just a ferris wheel, but I am excited

What are you excited about?  Is there something that is coming up that you are excited about? Tell me!

A Prayer in Spring
by Robert Frost

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfil.

Spring Break is just around the bend, I am so excited we are going to Asheville, North Carolina.  We will do a little hiking, eat a little southern BBQ, visit the Baltimore Hotel, swim in the hotel pool, and soak in the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains.  I don't think it can get any better than that.

It is only 4 weeks now until we leave for Germany.  The boys are getting so excited.

On Thursday, we made these yummy little birds nest treats.  So simple to make.  Just a little butter, marshmallow, and rice noodles topped with Cadbury Eggs.  Aren't they adorable!

Unfortunately, the weekend didn't shape up the way we had planned.  Baby girl is terribly sick.  We visited urgent care this morning because she has been throwing up since Friday.  They gave her some Zofran, so I hope it does the trick because if it doesn't it means we will be spending the night in the hospital.  So far she hasn't thrown up, and she has managed to give me a smile.

Harris went to see the Hunger Games yesterday with his Nana.  He said it was fantastic!  I am only slightly jealous.  Nana has promised to come watch the gang, so I can sneak out and go see it.

My husband came home late Friday night after being in California all week.  He is now in love with California.  He ate at a yummy little restaurant called the Cottage.  The food must have been pretty good because he rarely talks about places he eats at .
Well, I better go put the sheets in the dryer.  I hope your weekend was better than mine.

Happy Sunday!

9 months

I can't believe 9 months have passed.  Addy is changing so fast.  This week she got her first and second tooth in which completely explains the amount of whining this past week.  She also learned how to crawl about a week ago, and now can move across the room in lightning speed. It amazing to see her flip over from her back and go for something that catches her eye.  She loves to stand though and every chance she gets she will hold onto your fingers and try to walk somewhere.  She is still not sleeping through the night which explains for my raccoon eyes, but I just can't let her cry.  Yesterday, I handed her to a friend of mine and she looked at my friend and started to cry.  The minute she was placed in my arms she was completely happy.  That surprised me because I didn't really think she cared who she was holding her.  She also recognizes her name.

Weekend Outakes

This weekend was perfect!  The weather was amazing, and I took full advantage of it but getting outdoors.  On another note, Sunday I finished my 8 week health challenge and won the weight loss challenge by losing 16 pounds.  Yahoo!  I still have a ways to go to meet my goal, but 16 pounds is a good start.  Sunday I took a little break from my diet and had the neighbors over for dinner.  I made lasagna short rib roll-ups and chocolate cake.  Boy did that cake taste so good!!!!  Thankfully, it was gone by the time everyone went home; otherwise, I would have been in big trouble. Well, the weather is gorgeous and I am going to hit the trail.  Have a great day!

St. Patricks Shenanigans

Pot of Gold Playdoh
Just add one Tablespoon gold glitter to this recipe.
We tried to catch a Leprechaun but no luck.
He escaped our trap!
 I caught a little Leprechaun.

He turned the water in the toilet green.
The Leprechaun made total havoc in the kitchen
by knocking over chairs, opening all the cabinets, and leaving a rainbow in his wake.
The Leprechaun left us his favorite green foods
along with green milk and rainbow pancakes.
Roman didn't want to drink the milk
because he was afraid he would turn into a Leprechaun.

The boys had fun celebrating St. Patricks Day!  We finished off the celebration with fish and chips!

I am 1/3 through my to do list.  Found the cutest Easter Polo's for the boys.   Can't wait to share with you some of my Etsy purchases. I  love Etsy!  If you have never visited Etsy, you are totally missing out.   Tons of great homemade items.  Roman asked me when he becomes 21 if he can stay home like me.  I guess he thinks I sit around and eats bon bons all day long.  Addy started crawling on Tuesday.  I guess her days as a baby are numbered, but she will always be my baby.  Well, I am off to catch the Leprechans.  See you on Monday!  Happy Weekend!

To do list "Everyday" Cornerview

image borrowed from Wikipedia

It is only 6 weeks until we leave for Europe.  I am sure I have mentioned before, but we are spending the summer in Europe this year just like 4 years ago when I started this blog.  This time we will be living somewhere between Mannheim and Heidelberg, Germany.  At this point, I still don't know where we are going to be living exactly, and for someone who likes to have things planned out I am starting to panic just a little.  I have to keep telling myself that by the time we leave we will have a place to live.  Until then, I still have a ton to do.  I am a little embarrassed to write all this down because I know it is a problem many wish they had.  I am certainly not complaining.  I know I am indeed blessed to get the opportunity to live over in Europe for the summer.

Here is just a  list of some of the things that I need to do before we go:

  • Reserve a rental car for when we are in England.  We have decided that we are going to visit Stonehenge and given  that we don't have very much time in England renting a car is going to be the best way to visit Stonehenge and Bath.
  • Purchase a London pass.  I think this will be the cheapest way to see London.
  • Find an Indian restaurant to eat at while in London that isn't going to cost us our shirt.  I know London is expensive, but there has to be somewhere where we can eat Indian food that isn't too expensive.  Anyone have any suggestions?
  • Take big boys to the Orthodontist.
  • Take little kids to the Cardiologist.
  • Addy needs to go to her 9 month Pediatrician appointment.
  • Bookmark places to eat and hikes in North Carolina for spring break.
  • Get my hair highlighted, and a Keratin treatment so that I don't have to deal with straightening my hair all summer long.
  • Buy Christmas presents for family in Germany -that way I don't have to pay for shipping.
  • Buy boys shirts for Easter.
  • Have the neighbors over for dinner.
  • Buy summer time work-out clothes.  Tomorrow is suppose to be 80 degrees and I am sweating in my long yoga pants.
  • Officially withdraw the children from school that way I will not be arrested for them missing more than 10 days of school.
  •  Buy Addy a headband to go with her Easter dress.
  • Research things to do and see while in Sicily.
  • Figure out how to get from airport to ho.tel in Prague.
  • Buy new church shoes for Harris.
  • Buy teacher thank you gifts.
  • Find someone to care for the fish.
  • Put the mail on hold.
  • Lose 13 more pounds.
  • The list could go on.  I am trying to let it not overwhelm me.  Everday as a mother I seem to wake up with a to do list.
What is on your to do list?

Monument "cornerview"

Old Faithful in Yellowstone Park
Dachau Monument
Oh boy! I have been to a lot of Monuments which made it kind of hard to pick which monument I should choose for this post. What makes a monument? Not every statue is a monument, and all are not monuments that remember war. Monuments can be to remember someone like Martin Luther King Jr. like the new monument to him now standing tall in Washington D.C., or they can be something that is not man made like the Grand Canyon. I always thought that the Grand Canyon was a national park, but it is considered a monument. Did you know that the President can declare something a monument without approval of Congress? However, monuments may or may not receive money from the government to support it. I wish I had more free time. I had fun looking through all my old photos. Boy have I had a good life. Do you ever look through old photos and wish you could relive a moment? I guess I am digressing. As I have said, I have been to a lot of monuments, but the one that has made the biggest impact on me would be a statue located at the Dachau concentration camp. The sculpture was created by Yugoslavian concentration camp victim Nandor Glid and symbolizes the emaciated bodies of the prisoners who died of starvation and disease in the camp. When I saw this monument I cried. How was it possible that something like this occurred and the world just stood by and watched. I don't know if anyone will ever be able to answer this question, but I hope that someday we will stand up as a race and say no more.

Where you will find me....

The day didn't look promising as the dark clouds loomed above with an unspoken promise of rain, but what the clouds didn't know was the sun was stronger and it was going to fight those clouds for it's debute.  The air was warm and sticky and it was definately too warm to wear a sweat shirt but not yet unbearable, and with each breath my nostrils filled with the smell of new grass and earth.  The forest was noisy with activity as birds called out to each other, frogs croaked in what sounded like a very large chorus, and squirels shifted the leaves looking for nuts.  Just 6 weeks ago I could barely walk two miles, but today I easily walked 6 miles and I wanted more; however, life does not wait as children need to be picked up from school, laundry in need of  folding, and a hungry baby in want of food. No need to fret because tomorrow you will find me in the same place walking the trail.  I cannot even tell you how happy walking in the forest makes me.  The trees stand as sentinels watching over me.  It is not something that can be chosen at this point.  I crave it!  My soul needs this time each day.  Sometimes like today I have a friend or two with me to make the time go faster with good conversation and other times I am alone but that is OK too because then it gives me time to solve the worlds problems.  I have lost 13 pounds and I am proud because for someone who loves food so much that is no easy task.  It is Friday and for that I am grateful.  Tonight after the boys finish their German homework for tomorrow, I think I will take them to the movies to see the Lorax a children's movie based on the book by Dr. Seuss who we celebrate today even though he has since passed away.  He gave the gift of whimsy and surprise to  millions of children who have read his books.  Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!  Now go enjoy the weekend!
